B.Ed or Bachelor of Education is a 2-year professional course that is done after graduation to work as a teacher in schools.
D.El.Ed. is a 2-year professional course that is done after higher secondary examination to work as a teacher in primary schools.
B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education)
The Bachelor Of Education (B.Ed.) program which is a professional course. It prepares teacher for upper primary and middle level (class VI-VIII), secondary level (class IX-X) and senior secondary level classes (class XI-XII). This course enhances the teaching capability of teachers.
Course Duration
The B.Ed program shall be of a duration of two academic years.
Eligibility
A. Candidates with at least of fifty percent mark either in the bachelor’s degree or in the master’s degree in Science/Social Science/Humanity/Bachelor of Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.
B. The reservation and relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government/State Government, whichever is applicable.

D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education)
The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) is a two year professional programme of teacher education. It aims to prepare teacher for the elementary stage of education, i.e. classes I to VIII. The aim of elementary education is to fulfil the basic learning needs of children in a inclusive school environment bridging social and gender gaps with the active participation of the community. The elementary teacher education program carries different nomenclatures such a BTC, J.B.T, D.Ed and (Diploma in Education). Henceforth, the nomenclatures of the program shall be the same across all states and it shall be referred to as the ‘Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed).
Course Duration
The D.El.ED programme shall be of a duration of two academic years. However, the student shall be permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of three years from the date of admission to the programme.
Eligibility
A. Candidates with at least 50% marks in the higher secondary (+2) or its equivalent examination are eligible for admission.
B. The reservation and relaxation in marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the central government / State government, whichever is applicable.
